St. John Mississippi River Bike Path
Phases I & II - State Project No. H.007559
Meyer Engineers, Ltd. completed the design, bidding, construction administration, and inspection for the St. John Mississippi River Trail - Phases I & II. This 10' wide multi-use asphalt path connects to the existing path at the St. Charles Parish line and extends it through LaPlace to East 29th Street in Reserve. In addition to the asphalt path on top of the levee, this project includes a ramp down the levee, drainage, a signalized pedestrian crossing and striping.
Construction Cost: $990,000
Phase III - State Project No. H.009770
Meyer Engineers, Ltd. has completed the design,construction administration, and inspection of Phase III. This phase extends from East 29th Street in Reserve to West 10th Street. In order to accommodate the annual Christmas bonfires traditionally located on top of the levee, in this phase the path transitions to be located closer to the toe of the levee.
Construction Cost: $1,339,000
Phase IV
Meyer Engineers, Ltd. is designing Phase IV of the Mississippi River path. This phase will begin at West 10th Street and end at the St. James Parish line, completing the Mississippi River Levee path on the East Bank within St. John Parish. Conceptual plans have been completed through the Regional Planning Commission. Final plans, construction administration, and construction planning will be through DOTD's Transportation Alternatives Program (formerly known as the Transportation Enhancement Program).
