Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery
Meyer Engineers, Ltd. completed the master plan, design, and construction administration for the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell, Louisiana. This Facility Planning and Control project consists of an 18.5 acre development including grading and drainage, internment sites, roads, parking lots, three buildings and two ancillary structure, landscaping, and irrigation.
The Master Plan incorporates the character of the existing site into the layout and design of the master plan scheme. the cemetery is a memorial with a park-like atmosphere. Upright headstones in a straight line represent discipline, honor, and courage to those who have served in our country's military to protect and extend our freedom. The Veterans Cemetery itself will be a memorial to all who have served in the armed forces.
In order to receive the funding grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs, the design and master plan had to be completed in an extremely tight schedule of 3-1/2 months. Meyer was able to meet all milestones on this very rigorous schedule.
Meyer provided architecture, civil engineering, structural engineering, cost estimates, and project schedules. Meyer coordinated with multiple sub consultants including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and geotechnical engineers.
