Lasalle Park | Parks & Recreation Projects
Meyer Engineers, Ltd. undertook the design of Lasalle Park, which is located on the south side of Airline Drive between Zephyrs Stadium (West Loop Road) and David Drive/Hickory Avenue. This project consisted of four softball fields, a concession stand/press box, dugouts, backstop fencing, outfield fencing, four soccer fields, and a two-mile asphalt jogging trail.
The project included construction of an asphalt parking lot for the LaSalle Tract Sports Complex. The parking lot measures approximately 650 feet by 189 feet wide and contains approximately 312 spaces. Pavement consists of three inches of asphaltic concrete on eight inches of base course. Concrete curbs, overland drainage and some subsurface drainage were also required.
Lighting for the project consisted of lighting for four softball fields, three soccer fields, and security and area lighting for the jogging trail. The project also included thirty-four 70-foot steel poles with 1000-watt fixtures.
