DOTD - Rest Areas | Architecture & Engineering Projects
Meyer Engineers, Ltd. has designed and provided construction administration for seven (7) DOTD Rest Area Improvements throughout the state. Rest areas included are:
Grand Prairie Rest Area Improvements – State Project No. H.003691
Meyer Engineers, Ltd. completed the design and construction administration of this project and coordinated the effort with St. Landry Parish, Federal Highway Administration and LA DOTD to construct rest area improvements. These improvements include major building additions and renovations, concrete pavement for the truck parking area in order to more closely match national standards, a generator capable of operating the whole site, a boat launch renovation including the addition of a bulkhead, signage, security cameras and system, landscaping and irrigation.
Butte Larose Rest Area Improvements – State Project No. H.003678
Meyer Engineers, Ltd. completed the design and construction administration of this project and coordinated the effort with St. Martin Parish; LA DOTD; Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation & Tourism; Federal Highway Administration; and Facility Planning & Control to design and construct rest area improvements. These improvements included renovations to the existing restroom building for truck traffic, a generator, a new guard shack outfitted with security system for full-site surveillance, paving improvements to car parking and RV and bus parking for improved traffic flow, a new main entrance road and sign, signage, new sidewalks and pavilions, plaza improvements in courtyard of welcome center, a 90,000 GPD sewerage treatment plant, landscaping and irrigation.
I-59 Slidell Rest Area Improvements – State Project No. H.003641
Meyer Engineers, Ltd. completed the design and construction administration for the I-59 Slidell Rest Area Improvements and coordinated the effort with St. Tammany Parish, Federal Highway Administration, and LA DOTD to design and construct rest area improvements. These improvements include building renovations, a guard house, pavement improvements, plaza improvements in the courtyard of the visitor center, new pavilions, landscaping, signage, and irrigation.
Toomey Rest Area Improvements – State Project No. H.003729
Meyer Engineers, Ltd. has completed the design for the Toomey Rest Area Improvements and construction administration and coordinated with Calcasieu Parish; LA DOTD; Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation & Tourism; Federal Highway Administration; Facility Planning & Control; and the architectural design team for the welcome center to design rest area improvements. These improvements include building and site demolition, new layout of truck and RV parking area, new layout of car parking, sidewalk and pavilion layout and design, new plaza area in front and behind new welcome center building, demolition of existing water wells, new larger water well, biorention gardens to provide overflow storage for rainwater during large storm events, a 60,000 GPD sewer treatment plant, a generator to service the site during power outage, signage, landscaping, and irrigation.
